OverviewMicrosoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation team (CO+I) organization is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Construction Engineer to join us. Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As part of the U.S. Government Airgap team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government. While our U.S. Government dedicated datacenter development team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions, together, all of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Responsibilities The Data Center Development team is at the forefront of delivering Intelligent Cloud, Edge, and AI infrastructure, a vital component that empowers every individual and organization across the globe to achieve more. We lay the groundwork for Microsoft's world-class, enterprise-grade, mission-critical network. This role is uniquely positioned at the crossroads of construction and technology, driving the expansion of our services. The Electrical Construction Manager for Data Centers is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all electrical construction activities related to the buildout, upgrade, or renovation of data centers. This includes coordinating and managing the General Contractors trades, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintaining schedules and budgets. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure that electrical systems and components are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with the design specifications and project requirements. The Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) division is entrusted with operating Microsoft's cloud, while the Datacenter Construction Delivery (DCD) team is responsible for building data center capacity. Our portfolio includes complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar, multi-year data center construction projects. The DCD team is currently seeking to fill the pivotal role off Electrical Construction Manager for our Cheyenne Region. Project Management:Lead and manage all electrical construction activities for large scale data center projects.Develop, implement, and maintain electrical construction schedules in coordination with the overall project timeline.Ensure electrical work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget.Track project milestones, identify potential risks, and resolve issues as they arise.Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of electrical systems. Design Review and Implementation:Collaborate with electrical engineers and architects to review electrical design documents, shop drawings, and technical specifications.Ensure the construction work aligns with the approved electrical designs, local codes, and safety regulations.Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with other building systems (e.g., HVAC, fire protection, and security systems). Safety and Compliance:Enforce strict adherence to Microsoft safety policies and procedures on the job site.Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe work practices. Quality Control:Ensure all electrical work meets the highest quality standards and complies with relevant codes and regulations.Perform regular inspections of electrical installations to verify accuracy and quality.Oversee testing, commissioning, and start-up activities to ensure systems operate according to specifications. Procurement and Budgeting:Oversee procurement of electrical materials and equipment for the project.Monitor electrical budgets and change order requests from the General Contractor. Client & Stakeholder Communication:Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical-related issues between Microsoft, contractors, and project team.Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, including management, clients, and engineers.Participate in project meetings and assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical-related concerns.Monitor electrical commissioning and drive issue resolution across the functional teams internal and external. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:Identify and resolve electrical issues quickly to avoid delays in the construction schedule.Provide technical support to resolve complex electrical challenges during installation and commissioning phases.OtherEmbody our culture and values |
