OverviewMicrosoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Data Center Program Manager, Fiber Specialist you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. In this role you will be responsible for outside of plant (OSP) and inside of plant (ISP) fiber delivery and maintenance. As a Data Center Program Manager, Fiber Specialist, you will drive the delivery and maintenance of Microsoft fiber infrastructure to enable world-class cloud services across the AMERICAS region. You will build our fiber management and maintenance processes from the ground up as well as take on the challenge of implementing approaches for managing and maintaining Microsoft owned fiber in our datacenters.This role not only works with vendors to augment existing fiber installations but with a team of fiber specialists who are geographically dispersed throughout North and South America. This role will undertake the challenge of maintaining 100% availability for all Microsoft owned fiber while working to prevent outages caused by fiber cuts. Efforts will include performing fiber characterization, troubleshooting optical systems and implementing best practices for fiber maintenance and installation. Responsibilities Preventing fiber cuts, fiber degradation and fiber related outages. Maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of the fiber network by conducting regular inspections, cleaning, testing, and repairs of the fiber infrastructure and equipment. Empowering a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of datacenter operations. Coaching Microsoft full time employees on fiber maintenance and installation at your datacenter. Collaborating, communicating, and negotiating effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, such as suppliers, partners, technicians, customers, as it relates to fiber delivery maintenance and management. Accountable for the ongoing delivery of Microsoft owned fiber and lateral fiber ensuring the on-time and defect-free delivery of customer capacity. Responsible for the planning and delivery of all supporting physical infrastructure, logistics, and the resources required to deliver bulk fiber for new and expanding data centers. Contribute to the financial management of operational, and capital spend for fiber operations. Management and oversight of all vendor/partner contracts and relationships including leased-facility landlords, IT and CE service providers, and partner support teams for fiber related operations.
