Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking to fill the role of Senior Director, Finance Transformation. Saab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Saab AB is focused on the United States Aerospace & Defense market, delivering projects, products and services to a wide variety of customers while leveraging both US-based capability and a global Saab AB product portfolio. This role is transforming the entirety of the Finance & Accounting operation of Saab, Inc. to leverage modern day tools and processes while supporting a growing business in an ever more challenging compliance and security environment.The role will be focused on process, methods, tools and systems necessary to leapfrog Saab Inc. into a much more effective organization that can support its organic and inorganic growth objectives while continuing to operate the business day to day.

The Senior Director, Finance Transformation reports to the Saab, Inc. Chief Financial Officer and collaborates with other members of the CFO Leadership Team to:

  • Define an end state for the Finance & Accounting process, methods and tools that is both achievable and aspirational.All processes are candidates for improvement, optimization, and automation, including but not limited to:

    • Monthly Closing

    • Forecast & Budget

    • Reporting to stakeholders

    • Transaction Processing (AR, AP, Expense Reporting)

    • US Government Accounting & Compliance

    • Project Finance including Earned Value, Project Control, interaction with Program Execution

    • Costing of large US Government Proposals and Projects

    • Treasury, Cash Management

    • Tax processes & procedures

  • Generate an appropriate roadmap of process, methods & tool evolution to take the Finance & Accounting team to the defined end state. Create a plan that implements best practices, robust compliance, and implementation in business systems such that the vision is achieved in a manner which is fast enough to meet the needs of the business while balancing the ongoing work of the business. The plan should:

    • Motivate the team to want to work on change projects

    • Use vision to motivate investment where required

    • Work on the problems that have the most impact to the people and the business

  • Establish a change management process for all Finance & Accounting process, methods and tools.

    • Determine current baselines for all items

    • Establish a means by which changes are suggested, vetted, staffed and otherwise resourced

    • Ensure that all changes are tested with zero defect to build confidence in a continuous improvement environment

  • Maintain an ongoing communication rhythm with the entire business to:

    • Understand the impact of change projects on all stakeholders

    • Collect feedback on what is working and what needs to be changed

    • Motivate people to embrace new ways of working while giving them a voice in asking for improvement

  • Inform the rolling 5-year Business Plan of necessary investments and projects necessary to achieve the vision

  • Act as a member of the CFO staff

    • Participate in Saab, Inc. Finance projects for continuous improvement, capability enhancement and general management of business growth

    • Manage a small team focused on support of the above activities

    • Work cross-functionally to support other staff members where appropriate

Total Annual Compensation Opportunity: $222,200- $325,000

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • 20+ years of demonstrated broad experience working in Accounting, Finance and related fields.

  • Significant experience in a rapidly growing business environment

  • Demonstrated experience of stepping into a new Finance & Accounting environment and assessing what needs to be done

Required Skills:

  • Ability to communicate and interact with cross-functional teams, listening to their perspective, problems and concerns, while articulating to them a vision for a future that is different than the present

  • Ability to assess a current situation and articulate a path forward without perfect information, or some amount of uncertainty

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, particularly in motivating large investment decisions

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
