Job Summary

The Electrocardiography Nurse Supervisor supervises nursing staff involved in providing care in the non-invasive cardiolovascular labs. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.Leads by clinical example in the provision of care across all sites. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, develops and maintains oversight of clinical competencies within the department, participates in and supports workflow development, expansion of services, and supports fiscal and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $212,558 - $232,039 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Non-invasive Cardiovascular Lab at UCSF offers a full array of diagnostic procedures that use ultrasound to create images of the heart and electrocardiography. Utilizing the latest ultrasound systems available, the UCSF Health Adult Echocardiography Lab provides 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, echocardiographic stress testing (ie: dobutamine, supine bicycle, and treadmill), ultrasound enhancement studies, and provides intra-operative support for various structural heart cases. The Electrocardiography lab supports ECG services including cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), treadmill stress testing, tilt tables, managing all ECGs performed systemwide, event monitor processing, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, holter monitoring as well as future technologies related to CV diagnostics. The lab has achieved national accreditation in echocardiography through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, which sets standards for quality patient care. Services are available at multiple locations across the bay area.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum four (4) years related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit
  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance. Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree or Master's degree in Nursing

License/Certification


  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
