Job Summary

Under general medical and supervisory direction, administers the full range of respiratory care
modalities in pulmonary and sleep clinics. The Respiratory Therapist operates and maintains a variety of electromechanical respiratory testing equipment to obtain data on the functioning of a person's respiratory processes. The RT calibrates and prepares equipment and supplies instructs and monitors patients performs tests documents and processes test results and assures the accuracy and validity of all procedures conducted in the clinic.
This role serves as a role model and resource providing clinical support and service coordination that assures consistently high-quality care and facilitating continuous improvement in respiratory care services. The RT is responsible for providing patient care and assessment interdisciplinary consultation staff patient family and community education and performance monitoring.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $65.11 - $81.68 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Current and valid California respiratory care practitioner license
  • 2 years of recent experience in a pulmonary ambulatory setting
  • Skill in in the operation of electromechanical respiratory testing equipment
  • Skill in keeping detailed records and ability to effectively communicate
  • Knowledge of different type of airway clearance devices (Aerobika, Nebulizer, Vest..etc)
  • Ability to work effectively under minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to effortlessly switch between tasks as needed for coverage

Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience in Pulmonary Function Laboratory
  • Previous experience in Pulmonary Rehab
  • Previous experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
  • Previous experience in Durable Medical Equipment
  • Knowledge of different insurance policies

License/Certification


  • RRT
  • Current BLS
