SUMMARY

The Driver is responsible for drivingcompany roll-off, luggers, open-tops, and van trailers to transport scrap material to and from specified locations for processing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Loads/unloads lugger boxes, roll-off boxes, dry vans and flatbeds as required
  • Services customers as directed by dispatcher/manager and work schedule
  • Maintains safe and professional driving on the roads and at customer locations
  • Verifies all loads are safe for the road
  • Weighs in and out on the scales, completes and processes all paperwork pertaining to the load
  • Inspects vehicle and notifies maintenance of any concerns
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, tarping systems or covers and protects materials, as needed
  • Follows all company safety policies/procedures and federal/state regulations with regard to vehicles, to include, reporting all accidents/incidents
  • Identifies different types of scrap metals and materials
  • Cleans and performs basic up-keep/maintenance on assigned vehicles
  • Keeps all required logs and records current and accurate to comply with company policies/procedures and federal/state regulations and laws
  • Complies with all applicable ISO procedures
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • 2 years of verifiable related driving experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe entry, exit, and operation of the vehicle.
  • Ability to use limbs to operate controls, levers, and gears, such as shifting gears, to drive, position, load, and unload the truck.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Remain in a seated position for 65% of the scheduled shift.
  • Frequently operates controls to position, load, and unload the truck.
  • Frequently lifts and moves materials and tools weighing up to 50lbs to load/unload and tarp the truck, and perform basic maintenance.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation.
  • Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching and lifting.
