Supplier Development Engineer

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and securing the ability of the supplier base to deliver products that are aligned with Quality, Delivery and Cost expectations. This will be accomplished through supplier related activities such as supplier assessment, APQP, problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:



  • Evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers to meet organizational requirements
  • Measure and assess supplier's performance
  • Facilitate new supplier setup process and maintain supplier mater data
  • Identify and drive continuous supplier improvement activities
  • Develop supplier audit plans and coordinate with cross functional sourcing and quality teams to execute
  • Monitor and update ERP system with supplier audit and business code of practice results to ensure supplier master data accuracy and supplier compliance
  • Act as liaison between supplier and Epiroc engineering to ensure adequate specifications are provided to suppliers to meet quality fit, form, and function expectations
  • Formulate root cause and corrective action plans to address systemic issues impacting supplier performance
  • Proactively work with suppliers to implement business process improvement measures
  • Develop partnerships with suppliers and provide training and support to decrease the risks associated with non-conforming material
  • Improve end-to-end supplier performance through increasing capacity, improving supply chain responsiveness, and raising performance standards, without sacrificing quality
  • Participate in new product development, special projects, and process improvement projects as required
  • Collaborate with supplier development colleagues worldwide and support global supplier development activities when applicable
  • Provide guidance, direction, and leadership to others
  • Take part and support internal ISO audits
  • Ensure supplier compliance with Epiroc's Business Code of Practice, applicable laws, regulations, restrictions, and standards



Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5+ years of job related experience
  • Well versed in manufacturing procedures, quality processes, and engineering discipline
  • Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification
  • Knowledge and experiences of Quality/APQP including: PPAP process, FMEA, and Control Plan
  • Strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Analytical mindset

  • 35% travel may be required to visit key domestic and international suppliers
  • Must possess exceptional integrity to handle supplier relationships objectively and to maintain confidentiality of shared information while dealing with competitive suppliers
  • Fluency in Spanish and English a plus
