The Landfill Leachate System Manager is to serve as the technical support for the facilities they have been assigned. This support takes many forms, including identification and assistance with the resolution of compliance issues, management of technical consultants, technical liaison with regulatory agencies, assist in preparation and management of permits, management of technical aspects of construction activities from RFP preparation through certification of the work, investigation and research of treatment technologies/options, and the review and evaluation of disposal options.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Develop a working knowledge of the site. This should include physical features of the site, such as the existing gas condensate management system, storm water, leachate system, etc.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the sites' permits. The knowledge should include industrial discharge, groundwater, surface water, solid waste, and air permits.
  • Develop a rapport with the existing leachate partners and regulatory agencies for the sites.
  • Identify areas for improvement of disposal costs through better disposal locations/options, pretreatment options, PTOW partnerships, or handling/segregation not previously identified.
  • Identify environmental issues with the site and work with the site engineer, site manager and site team to develop solutions.
  • As appropriate, prepare RFPs, perform bid evaluations, and serve as project manager of technical contracts. Project management responsibilities will include administering the contract and managing the budget and schedule for the activities.
  • In coordination with the site engineer and site manager, develop and maintain a five-year schedule for the facility. The schedule should include expansion/closure activities, construction activities, and significant compliance activities.
  • In coordination with the site engineer and site management, manage environmental submittals to achieve zero administrative (on-time, complete) violations.
  • Working with the site engineer and site manager to determine projects required for the next fiscal year and review with the appropriate RVP by August 1.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to take directions from multiple sources and prioritize accordingly.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft O365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Continuously lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs. Occasionally up to 20lbs.
  • Occasionally working outside in changing temperature, wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, other airborne matter.
  • Continuously sitting/standing/walking in office environment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Education
High School (required)
Bachelors of Relevant field (required)
Experience
Experience or studies in Solid Waste preferred. (preferred)
10 years: Previous Waste Water Treatment experience. (required)
