Tenure Track Faculty Full Professor and Associate Director of Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC)

Position Overview: The WVU Cancer Institute is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as a Tenure Track Faculty Full Professor in Radiation Oncology and the Associate Director of the Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) program. This dual role is integral to advancing the institute's mission of achieving NCI designation and fostering a robust cancer research and education ecosystem.

Faculty Role:



  • Design and lead an impactful, externally funded foundational cancer research program.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring, with experience in directing NCI Cancer Research Training and Education (CRTEC) programs.
  • Collaborate with existing faculty to enhance research, training, and teaching portfolios.
  • Secure and manage research funding from NIH, CDC, industry, and foundations.
  • Publish multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and present research at state, regional, and national levels.


CRTEC Role:



  • Coordinate cancer research training and education across multiple initiatives, promoting transdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Interface with Research Program Leaders and Associate Directors to identify new initiatives and enhance training activities.
  • Oversee trainee tracking and assessment, ensuring effective data management and program evaluation.
  • Develop forums for trainees to present and discuss research, integrating them into institute activities.
  • Evaluate mentoring plans and progress for early-stage investigators.
  • Establish a CRTEC Internal Advisory Council and participate in institutional career development committees.
  • Engage in preparations for the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) application and presentations.
  • Uphold diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) values, partnering with relevant leaders to foster an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

* Terminal degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a field relevant to cancer research, education, or public health.
* Proven success in leading and managing training and education programs in academic or research settings.
* Experience with federally funded training grants and programs, particularly NCI-related grants.
* Strong track record of mentoring students, trainees, and early-career faculty.
* Knowledge of NCI CCSG guidelines and requirements is strongly preferred.
* Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
* Commitment to advancing DEI in education and training programs.
