The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist is responsible for personally providing care to patients that have acute critical conditions and cardiac and pulmonary disease. Working under some supervision, this role operates various equipment related to respiratory care, performs testing, and advocates for patients' needs. Working under direct supervision, this role carries out treatment plans designed by a licensed Respiratory Therapist.


Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG's to inform the development of treatment plans.
Assists with the monitoring of invasive and non-invasive ventilators to track and improve the patient's recovery.
Advocates for patients' needs internally to deliver the most appropriate care.
Verifies using established protocol that equipment is functioning properly so that treatment plans can be carried out.
Documents care and outcomes as required by regulatory agencies and organizational procedures to maintain patient records and suggest improvements in care.
Supports the administration of more advanced therapies, such as bronchoscopies, to treat more complex cases.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Graduate of a 2-year school for Respiratory Therapy

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 year of clinical experience in Respiratory Care at Cone Health

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a RRT; Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Obtain RRT within 6 months of employment
