Job Summary
SMSI is hiring for Principal Plumbing Engineers and Plumbing Designers in Greenville, South Carolina. The purpose of these positions is to plan, organize, and coordinate process/mechanical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects through project startup. This position requires travel, with mobility of greater than 25% to client sites in Aiken, SC (Savannah River Site), and Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities



  • Plan, organize, and coordinate process/mechanical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects through project startup.
  • Prepare and review calculations and specifications relating to P&ID development.
  • Demonstrate design experience in areas such as, but not limited to mechanical systems, water and waste systems, and equipment design.
  • Generate and review the accuracy of design/evaluation calculations, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
  • Conduct construction document reviews as required.



Required Skills



  • This position requires travel, with mobility of greater than 25% to client sites in South Carolina (Savannah River Site). Occasionally, trips to client office in Houston may also be required.


  • Working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy). preferred but not required.
  • Professional Engineering License preferred, but not required.
  • The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance is required.


Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 5 or more years of experience in engineering and/or design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering.
  • Experience working in the nuclear industry is preferred but not required.
