Description
POSITION: Conservation Landscape Manager

DEPARTMENT: Education- Build Trybe

Starting Salary: $52,000 - $56,000 (Annually)

(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will lead Cornerstones of Care's Build Trybe Conservation Landscape program. This program focuses on eco landscaping and forestry instruction for Cornerstones of Care youth. Team member will be responsible for managing a team of instructors providing pre-apprenticeships to young adults in the KC Metro region. This pre-apprenticeship program is focused on native landscaping and forestry. Manager will work closely with community partners and team to provide a strong and meaningful learning experience for the youth. Manager will be expected to work with numerous partners to engage the pre-apprentice program in wild sanctuaries and native spaces around Kansas City. They will be expected to maintain a professional working environment and program that prepares pre-apprentices for job opportunities in green industry.


This position exists to run a dependable, effective, and organized vocational training program.



  1. Manage Conservation Landscape staff



  1. Work effectively with community partners and internal partners



  1. Manage projects and workdays with community partners and team members



  1. Represent the program, Build Trybe, and Cornerstones of Care in the community



  1. Create and maintain organized and effective systems for data tracking, scheduling, and reporting



  1. Work closely with Build Trybe leadership to improve and grow the program as directed by grant and contract defined deliverables and objectives



  1. Oversee classes and support staff actively in the field


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to manage team. Must be proficient at landscaping and horticulture.

Must be able to keep track of expenses and perform basic accounting. Ability to present and orate with clear communication

Must be able to work outdoors and in nature for long periods of time. Physical requirements include ability to lift and move 30lbs, able to run a mile, able to perform repetitive tasks involving weight, and able to work actively for 8 hour period outdoors in nature.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires High School Diploma is required (preferred candidate would have a Bachelor's degree). Qualified experience includes two years of trade experience, two years of working in a youth guide, instructor, or teaching capacity, experience managing or leading teams, and project managing. Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver's license, proof of current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation.
