Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Enterprise Architect, work in a development team designing, coding, documenting, and programming new dean's office, college, and campus mission-critical web applications. Provide clients with easy- to-use business applications, ensure data integrity, and adhere to secure coding practices to meet campus cyber safety standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience/training, with professional expertise in developing web applications using object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#).
* Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and the ability to troubleshoot, debug, and improve complex applications.
* Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a team setting.
* Proficiency in relational databases, SQL development (including query optimization), web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and secure coding practices (authentication, authorization, and data encryption).

Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), RESTful APIs and GraphQL, Agile methodologies, and experience deploying scalable applications in higher education or similar environments.
* Expertise in interacting with complex accounting systems, providing detailed financial analysis, and leveraging data manipulation tools such as Pandas, NumPy, or SQL for in-depth analysis.
* Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Next.js), AI-based applications (vector databases, embeddings, LLM APIs), and real-time, low-latency application design.

Department Overview
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) addresses critical issues related to agriculture, food systems, the environment, communities, and human and social sciences through cutting-edge research, top-ranked undergraduate and graduate education, and internationally recognized outreach programs.
The Computing Resources Unit (CRU) within the CA&ES Deans Office supports the colleges mission through excellence in technological innovation by providing a wide variety of services, including custom reporting solutions, analytical databases, and line-of-business web applications. The CRU developer division has been recognized as a leader in application development at UC Davis and often undertakes vital campus-scale projects with wide-ranging benefits for faculty and staff.
