Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Defect Coordinator. As a member of an Agile team, the Defect Coordinator will take on primary responsibility for coordinating defect-related activities across the project. The Defect Coordinator will analyze, implement, and support testing activities in support of the design, development, and implementation of a large, complex PeopleSoft project. This team member will be responsible for ensuring the delivered software and documentation is adequately tested and meets quality and compliance standards. This team member will also be expected to work a hybrid schedule - 2 days a week (Mondays and Tuesdays) in the Arlington, VA office.



Responsibilities

    Facilitate and manage defect review, planning, and retrospective sessions.
  • Analyze, report, and track impediments, bugs, defects, and known issues.
  • Standardize content and exhibit strong attention to detail.
  • Ensure all committed deliverables are on track according to the established milestones.
  • Work closely with teammates and clients in design sessions to translate user requirements into system requirement specifications.
  • Write test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.
  • Plan and perform unit testing, functional requirements testing, and regression testing for sprint releases.
  • Identify and prepare test data in support of test activities.
  • Track and communicate project testing status to key stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Use best practices to test and deploy changes from staging environments to production.
  • Ensure delivery of code and systems meets performance, operational readiness, and other non-functional requirements.
  • Promote and facilitate information sharing, cross-team training, and mentoring of junior staff members.
  • Uphold responsibility of leading a team of as many as 1-4 testers and overseeing their day-to-day activities.
  • Assist testing manager in developing test strategies and processes in support of testing deliverables
  • Develop testing estimates, escalate risk/issues, and provide test reports to ensure project related test deliverables adheres to company's policies and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or relevant work experience. Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to comprehend, analyze, and synthesize complex technical information. Experience with government and/or Department of Defense environments preferred.

  • 8+ years of relevant business experience.
  • 3-5 years of defect coordination experience.

The following skills are desired for this position:

  • Thorough knowledge of the Agile development process
  • Proficient in use of JIRA for requirements and defect management
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries
  • Experience reading and editing XML files
  • Experience with PeopleSoft software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently or as part of a team

Clearance: A background investigation at the T3 level is required, as this is not currently a classified position. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
