Field Service Technician

EK is looking for a full-time Field Service Technician with a thorough knowledge of applied trade practices and techniques to join our Power Products team. We're looking for a motivated individual with diverse skills who is ready to jump in with a great group of people and push our Power Products division to the next level.
SUMMARY:
Travels to locations across the U.S. and Canada repairing and adding electrical and assembly components to generator enclosures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Communicates with customers on phone, by email, and in person to aid in onsite assembly and onsite issues.
  • Estimates repair costs.
  • Records repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Travel to customer sites to aid in installation and troubleshooting. Travel includes US and Canada and may be up to 75-100% of time.
  • Assembles functional parts of enclosures and tanks using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • May be qualified in the use of forklifts, cranes and other lifting apparatus and lifts to aide in the assembly process.
  • Develops work instructions from general description. Confers with supervisor, engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve assembly problems.
  • Assembles, installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble product both in the shop and on site.
  • Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
