Summary

The Storekeeper supports the operation of the Palo Verde Stores Department by performing and documenting activities relating to offload, receipt, put away, packaging, storage, cycle count, issuance, and shipment of material in support of plant operations, maintenance, and refueling outages.

Material handled may include:



  • Radioactive, hazardous chemicals, nuclear safety related materials, equipment and spares.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED plus a minimum of one (1) year warehousing experience.
  • Able to lift material up to 50 pounds chest height.
  • Must be able to qualify and become proficient with powered industrial trucks and other material handling equipment.


Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications



  • Associates degree.
  • Previous employment at a nuclear power plant/familiarity with station procedures.
  • Effective computer skills and knowledge of information systems.
  • Ability to achieve standard Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Clearance.
  • Previous experience operating powered industrial trucks/material handling equipment.


Nuclear Requirement

Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.

Any PVGS employee may also be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.

This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment.

Major Accountabilities

  • Receives, stocks, cycle counts, issues and delivers materials, including chemicals and/or other hazardous/radioactive materials, according to user needs and expectations per Palo Verde processes and procedures, which are compliant to the Nuclear Assurance Quality Assurance Program Description and NQA-1.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements and quality program commitments.
  • Documents material non-conformances per station processes/procedures, and coordinates with procurement specialists and suppliers as appropriate to disposition the issue, this includes active involvement in the PVGS Corrective Action Program.
  • Takes ownership in material storage at the station and supports through engagement with the Voluntary Protection Program, One Team, Potential Tornado Borne Missile hazard program, and by completing Material Storage Inspection Reports, etc.
  • Operates powered industrial trucks and other material handling equipment proficiently in a safe and competent manner.
  • Works Safe and Event Free with the One Team mindset through the use of quality Pre-Job Briefs, Two Minute Drills, and following STAR (Stop, Think, Act, Review) to maximize our margin to safety.
  • Packages and ships material in accordance with NRC, Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and carrier requirements (as assigned).
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external customers using verbal and written skills using tools such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.).

Plant/FieldRole:

This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site, due to the nature of work.

Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
