Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN is hiring a Manager, Data Solutions in Eagan, MN. The Manager, Data Solutions will be responsible for strategic enterprise data solution projects and leading a team of Data Analyst. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data warehousing and analysis, as well as strong leadership abilities to support and mentor the team effectively. This role involves strategic team management, project oversight, and collaboration with analytics and business partners.

This role is hybrid in Eagan, MN and requires 2 days a week, in the office.

A Day in the Life:

  • Team Leadership:Provide people management to the team (5-10 individuals), conducting regular 1:1s, addressing skillsets and development. Mentor team members on technical aspects and guide them on how to join data effectively.

  • Customer Collaboration:Work closely with analytics partners and business partners to develop and automate data services for customers.

  • Data Management:Ensure data is structured, validated, and accessible within the data warehouse while maintaining compliance and data governance policy and procedure. Continuously pursue and execute optimization of enterprise data warehouse.

  • Project Oversight:Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they hit target dates and meet customer satisfaction. Align projects with product teams, manage blended resources, and oversee contingent staff.

  • Estimations and Funding:Collaborate with other managers on estimations and cost-benefit analyses (CBAs). Submit funding requests and manage project budgets.

  • Supports, communicates and takes personal ownership of strategy and success criteria.

  • Actively assesses perspective from all levels and peers and challenges the status quo to ensure a successful execution plan.

  • Demonstrates the capacity to effectively manage changing priorities and ambiguity.

  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches.

  • Drives customer excellence through establishing partnerships with customers.

  • Demonstrates dedication to meeting expectations and requirements for internal customers and vendors.

  • Leverages customer/consumer insight.

  • Engages and mobilizes human resources by establishing clear direction and setting stretch objectives.

  • Creates collaborative relationships/teamwork including vendors.

  • Attracts, coaches and develops others.

  • Achieves business excellence by establishing management priorities, defining performance measures, creating and utilizing key metrics and performance indicators to measure service levels.

  • Drives talent development in a way that builds and supports current and future organizational goals and individual needs.

  • Executes a strategy and systems to retain and engage talented individuals.

  • Manages the department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensuring employees receive the proper training.

  • Conducts performance evaluation, and is responsible for managing employees, including skill and career development, policy administration, coaching on performance management and behavior, employee relations and cost control.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • 5+ years of related (Data Solutions, Data Warehouse) professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • 3 years of staff management and software project development, delivery and support experience.

  • A proven track record of managing and building high-performing teams.

  • A proven track record of administering the HR, resource management, policies and procedures, etc. within an application development department.

  • Experience customizing, implementing and working with various application development and quality improvement methods, including RUP, XP or other agile development methods, CMM(I), etc.

  • A background that includes time spent as a portfolio/project manager and an application architect or technical lead.

  • Positions in IT division:
    -Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or higher
    -Amazon AWS Cloud Practitioner or higher

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters.

  • Data Warehousing experience is strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally to estimate work and identify requirements.

  • Proficient in writing SQL queries

  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including leading people management.

  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for data solutions that aligns with the company's long-term goals.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex data challenges and provide innovative solutions.

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $155,300.00 - $195,600.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
