Job Summary: The Data Analyst II gathers, audits, analyzes, and reports moderate- to high-complexity data under moderate supervision. Ensures data integrity. May build dashboards or reporting systems for end users, perform ad-hoc analyses and reporting to inform decision-making, or design predictive modeling or other data mining capabilities. May provide guidance and training to entry-level Data Analysts.

Additional Department Summary: The Research ASSIST Office at the University of Alabama is seeking a talented individual to join our team. This position collaborates with leaders across academic, research, and administrative functions, using advanced data analytics to support our mission of research innovation and impact.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of data analysis experience; OR master's degree and some data analysis experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and other BI tools. Familiarity with ETL processes and data modeling. Experience with data extraction tools like Denodo, Informatica, SSIS, Alteryx, etc. Experience in Tableau and SAP BusinessObjects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders (both internally and externally). Strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly switch between priorities/tasks.

Preferred Qualifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate are highly desirable.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field), or equivalent job experience is required; a Master's degree in Data Analytics or a related field is preferred.

Previous Experience: 3-5 years of related experience working with information systems. 3-5 years of experience developing reports and dashboards in data, reporting, and visualization tools. 2 years of experience developing complex dashboards, reports, or data processes with demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and generate solutions to meet those needs. Prior higher education or research adjacent BI experience preferred. Highly proficient with administrative skills, including advanced use of word processing, database, spreadsheet and desktop publishing software.
