ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a GIS Analyst-Junior to support a wide range of projects which are critical to the mission of the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) GIS Department at Fort Carson. Responsibilities include the creation of custom mapping products based on client data specifications, maintaining and updating geospatial mapping databases, spatial data analysis using a variety of GIS software and tools, and the development and execution of automated production workflows. Staff should possess a thorough working knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS suite of products for the development of a wide variety of geospatial mapping products outstanding attention to detail, and proven problem-solving skills. Because this position will be responsible for mission-critical geospatial data development in an often fast-paced environment, staff shall also display professionalism in interfacing with clients and customers under pressure, and possess strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Functions:

  • Daily utilization of ArcPro 2.x / 3.x ArcMap Suite 10.x and ArcMap Extensions, such as Data Interoperability, Network Analyst, Publisher, and Data Reviewer, for the production of mapping products.
  • Ability to produce spatial data sets and mapping layers.
  • Support the maintenance of geospatial data in the current Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) Version 4.0 database structure.
  • Creation of custom GIS maps, scripts, tools, and applications for various data processing requirements.
  • Ability to engage customers to determine requirements, propose solutions, and assist with implementation.
  • Develop and modify automated map and KML production workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience with GIS support for Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the ability to support for extended periods.
  • Ability to possess a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC) or pass a background check to obtain a CAC.
  • Willingness to learn new software, procedures, and workflow processes.
  • Ability to meet quality and performance standards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Associates degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering or related field
  • Two years experience in populating and utilization of GIS databases in a production environment or five years of experience with no degree
  • Experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) technologies and industry-standard software
  • Strong team player capable of adapting to a changing work environment
  • Experience working with military and government personnel in a structured environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities and short deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail with good problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
