Job Description

Duties: Ensure all animals entering the facility are cared for at the established level, assessed and identified as meeting the standards for processing for human consumption. Ensure all standard operating procedures are being followed and facilities are in good working condition. Provide for training of employees on day-to-day processes and procedures to develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods. Responsible for attaining established targets for receiving of animals and movement of animals through the system. Demonstrate a clear understanding of key performance indicators and the impact on operations. Investigate, identify, and resolve operational constraints in the process, such as number of stressed or injured animals or bottlenecks and provides real-time solutions. Evaluate equipment and stockyards to ensure animals are held in a safe area free from any hazards. Utilize daily data to impact and maximize performance. Demonstrate a complete understanding of humane handling practices, and complies with Company, USDA and FSIS regulations, policies and standards. Monitor work schedules to ensure manning is at the established standard to meet production and schedule attainment. Ensure accurate record of staffing and time worked. Supervise all employees, monitoring work performance, directing work, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and ensuring team members are trained and qualified and performing duties safely. Adhere to all Company policies and standard operating procedures with regards to animal handling, food safety and work-place safety. Manages up to 20 employees, has authority to recommend employees for hire, discipline, and termination.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny, or related. Requires two years of related swine experience. Experience overseeing production tasks. Experience following standard operating procedures. Experience training subordinate employees. Experience utilizing key performance indicators. Experience evaluating equipment and stockyards for hazards. Experience working with USDA and FSIS regulations, policies, and standards. Experience ensuring that company policies and regulations are followed as outlined in training and procedures manuals. Experience may be gained during degree program. Must be proficient in English reading and writing.
