POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Product Marketing, enhances existing and identifies new product marketing opportunities, implements Granulite biosolids fertilizer outreach programs, and keeps abreast of biosolids regulatory trends. Working with plant management and staff personnel, augments local product marketing activities as needed to lower costs and provide diversification.
The Honolulu, HI plant will be the primary focus of the position with minimal additional work as needed at other facilities. This is subject to change based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Product Distribution & Logistics

* Perform all work in a safe, professional, and conscientious manner.
* Initiate and develop sales and perform customer service calls to identify and seek beneficial relationships with potential agriculture customers with a focus on increasing product revenue. Marketing approach will include agronomic considerations.
* Work directly with existing and new end user customers to support and ensure they understand agronomic, soil, and beneficial use consideration.
* Establish multi-layered marketing and distribution plan for agriculture markets to enhance diversification and financial performance of plant.
* Identify innovative product marketing opportunities to increase diversity through soil blending, land reclamation, and alternative fuel projects.
* Interact with local politicians, farm bureaus, conservationists, etc. as needed for ongoing understanding of biosolids use in local plant areas.
* Work with plant administrators to organize trucking logistics.
* Establish maintenance schedules for all field equipment (spreaders and trailers) and confirm end users performing the same while equipment is under their control.
* * Assure that tags as well as all necessary information pertaining to insurance and load information is maintained on trailers used in transporting pellets to customer locations.
* Calibrate spreaders, assist in transferring spreader(s) from location to location, and position equipment properly allowing for transfer of pellets from trailers into spreader.
* Coordinate logistics of pellet distribution and equipment movement.
Outreach Programs
* Focus outreach programs through customers, farmers, and the local agricultural communities.
* In conjunction with the Product Distribution Manager, develop and continuously improve marketing materials that will educate users on biosolids benefits and use.
* Attend biosolids and agriculture-related conferences.
* Develop biosolids agriculture and turf research projects in conjunction with associations or universities.
Regulatory
* In conjunction with the Environmental Compliance Manager, ensure product distribution activities maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.
* Understand biosolids and fertilizer regulations and provide regulatory support as needed.
* Assist in developing regulatory strategies to optimize product placement and value.
* Monitor and understand regulatory trends such as PFAS, phosphorus limitations, micro- contaminants, and personal care products and their potential impact on product marketing.
* As needed, be involved with national, regional and local organizations to positively influence laws and regulatory decisions around biosolids and fertilizers.

QUALIFICATONS:
* Prior experience (including life experience) in an agricultural environment will be considered favorably.
* Knowledge and experience in the use of chemical or organic fertilizer preferred.
* Associate's or Bachelors Degree in agriculture, or equivalent combination of experience in agricultural field.
* Previous work, educational exposure, or life experiences in areas related to soil health, physics, fertility, and/or the value of recycling organic matter to soils will be considered valuable.
* Certification in soil agronomy or similar desired but not required.
* Experience in operations and routine maintenance of farm-type equipment.
* Excellent customer service skills required
* Must be able to visit customers throughout the island.
* May be required to attend corporate functions from time to time.
* Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
