Summary:

The Parts Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the activities of the Parts Department to ensure the overall growth and profit objectives are met. The Parts Manager will formulate the major objectives, specific plans, plan procedures and programs for the Parts Department, along with evaluating the department's results and performance against objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure the operations of the dealership's parts department are performing sufficiently to meet the annual and quarterly sales and profit goals using proper purchasing procedures and inventory controls.


  • Establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the Parts Department within the Company's overall plans and policies.


  • Exercise appropriate inventory management controls to ensure optimum stocking levels, safekeeping of inventory and core returns reimbursements.
  • Supervise and direct Parts Department personnel as they are engaged in ordering, receiving, shelving/stocking, inventorying, issuing, shipping, and delivering truck parts/equipment.
  • Analyze customer volume and demand reports, along with product line supply and/or manufacturing capacity, and other factors to establish pricing strategies that maximize margins.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective work processes and procedures designed to improve efficiency and expedite workflow.
  • Develop annual forecast and manage department budget to drive Parts Department sales growth.


  • Develops and maintains policies and practices which will ensure positive customer relations.


  • Partner with Stoops' Service Department and regularly review order/sales data to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Responsible for hiring and staffing department adequately, also providing employees with timely feedback and coaching on performance.


  • Develops merchandising strategies to ensure the objectives are obtained.
  • Meets regularly with employees and department leads to ensure a high level of employee morale and performance.
  • Strategically plan and execute to meet company's medium and long-term goals.
  • Conducts regular sales meetings.
  • Strong commitment to safety, leads by example, ensures employees comply with safety requirements and actively participates in safety training.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field from four-year college or university and at least three years' experience in a management position with responsibility for direct supervision of subordinate staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Outlook; Inventory software; Order processing systems and experience with Procede.
  • Ability to create, manage and monitor financial budgets.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Maintains the highest quality standards of professionalism in serving the customer and identifying their needs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have current, valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
