Job Summary

The Assistant II - Accounting will work with the Accounts Payable team to assist the Accounting Manager with the responsibilities of processing expenditures, and ensuring schools comply with District requirements and the established policies of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.

Salary range: $45,960 $63,650

THE SELECTION PROCESS: will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral or performance tests; or other assessment methods. The Office of Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Selection process component weights will be determined by further analysis of the job

Qualifications

  • An Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance or the equivalent of 4 years of full-time experience in an accounting-related position.
  • Two or more years of experience in an accounting-related position, preferably working in a public sector environment and grant accounting experience.
Responsibilities

  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Resolves invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Maintains historical records by scanning and filing documents.
  • Protects the organizations value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Demonstrates a high level of quality work and attendance.
  • Organized, stable, detail-oriented, and a quick learner with PC proficiency and data entry skills.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
