The University of Georgia Facilities Management Division is the largest of seven (7) divisions reportingto the Vice President for Finance and Administration. Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM On occasion, employee may be required to perform duties after hours (evenings and weekends) due to emergency situations or planned work.

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

This position needs an expert level of technical knowledge and skills for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the UGA campus boiler systems. These building boiler systems are various in type, size, and manufacturer involving the individual in this position to have the needed mechanical and technical skills needed for monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing these boilers and their associated equipment. This position is responsible for keeping preventative and corrective maintenance logs, part inventory, and works closely with the State inspector to assure we are staying in compliance. This position will be expected to work independently to complete tasks within this competency and help train others on staff.

This position has expert level technical knowledge and mechanical skills in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building boiler systems and their associated equipment. Be able to independently diagnose and solve a wide range of operational issues that arise from the mechanical components and controls of boiler systems including the following:

Perform regular checks and take corrective action to ensure the building boiler systems and associated equipment are operating per designed requirements.

Install, maintain, and repair the mechanical components of the building boiler system such as circulator pumps,condensers, burners, heat exchangers, tubes, combustion chamber and exhaust stack.

Diagnose and solve a wide range of operational issues for maintaining the correct pressure within the operator,modulation, and high limit pressure controls (sensors, boards, starters, relays).

Assist and provide input to FMD Engineering for the commissioning and design planning of new building boiler systems.

Assist and support with other duties as assigned by the Plumbing Shop Manager
