Project Manager

Description:

This position is responsible for the safe, on-time, on-budget design, construction, commissioning and startup of an alpha-olefins research laboratory and revamp of existing laboratory space at the Kingwood Research & Technology Center.

Key Responsibilities



  • Day-to-day management and execution of the project
  • Assures all activities are aligned with Project Objectives
  • Develops and executes plans to achieve the AFE objectives including safety, cost, schedule, economic projections, and operability goals
  • Recommends project organization - participates in selection of key project and other SBU representatives
  • Identifies needed project resources, and presents the need along with the potential resource solutions to the GRT
  • Manages project definition
  • Participates in technology selection - responsible for process and mechanical design coordination
  • Approves design and construction changes in accordance with the project's DOA
  • Project planning and execution including cost estimates and control, and estimate validations
  • Develops contracting, execution, and material management plans; and conducts contract negotiations
  • Procures preconstruction engineering, design, and cost-estimating services; and, after AFE approval, administration of engineering, procurement and construction bids, awards, and implementation
  • Manages contractor performance against the project's execution plan, specifically design, procurement, constructability, and material management objectives
  • Manages the contractor's engineering organizations
  • Ensures required project assurance reviews are completed and recommendations are addressed
  • Prepares and processes project AFD and AFE approvals
  • Conducts project reviews at agreed-upon milestones, including post-project execution review
  • Provides ongoing accurate financial reports, progress reports, and cost projections in accordance with Company requirements
  • Oversees and coordinates the permitting process
  • Provides transition leadership for the startup organization
  • Monitors costs, schedule, and conformance to contract performance and approving expenditures according to DOA
  • Completes Project Closure
  • Completes the Project Management Evaluation



Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or 7+ years in project management/leadership roles of projects >$10MM Total Installed Cost (TIC)
  • Experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer on projects >$5MM TIC


  • Knowledge of Industry and Company design codes and practices is required
  • Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
