Position Overview

The Professional Development Content Writer contributes to the development of all print and digital professional development content, which serves an audience of early childhood educators and administrators. This individual will plan, write, review, and build face-to-face training sessions, Web-based eLearning courses, and other training materials as directed.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:



  • Curates the Teaching Strategies portfolio of professional development assets reflecting the highest standards in adult learning
  • Supports PD product life cycle from requirements gathering through release and beyond
  • Works with stakeholders to determine strategy for creating professional development content across multiple channels
  • Contributes to the development and quality of content for online, hybrid, and in-program professional development
  • Ensures pedagogical and editorial fidelity of all course content as well as adherence to Teaching Strategies "voice" and brand guidelines
  • Supports and maintains project deliverable timelines
  • Uses project management software to proactively track progress and deliverables
  • Follows Agile and Scrum frameworks for tracking project development
  • Develops documentation for courses as specified by state registry and IACET requirements
  • Provides product knowledge and expertise to various projects and initiatives


Online Professional Development



  • Plans course content and solicits reviews from content stakeholders
  • Writes, reviews, and edits course storyboards; selects images and video assets; develops technical specifications for developer(s)
  • Produces studio scripts and manages recording of course narration
  • Works with LMS developers to produce project deliverables within set timelines
  • Works with UI/UX designer to prototype and test user interfaces


In-Program Professional Development



  • Reviews and revises sessions based on feedback from stakeholders, customers, trainers, and personal observation
  • Develops new sessions to support product updates, new product releases, and requests from the field for special topics
  • Supports the tailoring of proprietary training materials to address customer-specific needs
  • Packages proprietary training materials in support of state-level and other significant customer relationships
  • Supports the creation of customized training sessions to address customer needs
  • Supports state-level customers and other strategic accounts with custom professional development solutions


Qualifications:



  • Master's degree preferred, preferably in early childhood or adult education
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Self-directed and strong drive for success
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Enthusiasm for new technologies
  • Google+, Slack, and other collaboration tools
