Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 (MLS)

Inova Ashburn Healthplex is seeking a Full-time (40hours)Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 to join the team. This position is working Night Shift Monday to Friday + every other weekend as needed by the department. Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 Job Responsibilities:

• The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 ensures quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
• Operates systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control and proficiency testing.
• Participates in departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
• Communicates effectively and working cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team and departmental development.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 Requirements:

• Work Schedule: Full-time Night Shift Monday to Friday + every other weekend Education: Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of American Society for Clinical Pathology /American Medical Technologists Board certification
• Experience: Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science accredited Medical Lab Scientist program or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program, within the last 5 years can be used in lieu of 1-year full time acceptable clinical experience.
• Certifications: AMT or ASCP Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include: MT, MLS, MLT, BB, SBB, C, H, M, SH, SCT, MB, SMB, SM, SC, and HEW.
