Position Summary

Electrical Specialist

Deer Park, TX

The Electrical Specialist (project support) is the discipline representative on the Project Team and drives technical assurance to ensure the safety, integrity, and reliability of the site's electrical assets.

Provides guidance and support to the electrical field craft or vendors for project activities. Assures electrical technical requirements are met and supports MOC - PSSR activities.

Supports quality assurance of the electrical systems for Turnarounds and Projects.

Provides technical support to Production and Maintenance for project activities required to meet the objectives of the Production Unit which demands strong ownership of the equipment in their assigned area.

Prioritizes efforts with emphasis on activities that drive safe and stable operations and improve the safety, environmental and reliability performance of the electrical equipment.


Responsibilities

Must understand electrical safe work practices.

Fully competent to recognize Electrical hazards and apply mitigation.

Active participant in project team meetings and maintain a proactive relationship with the members of a project team. Audit/verify red line drawings to be input the document management system. Delivers QA and hold point inspections on work being performed at external shops. Take a leadership role in assuring the electrical activities are performed safely and in accordance with Deer Park and Downstream safety policies.

Day to day support with Project Electrical Engineers and Project Engineers. Support, as needed outside vendors and equipment manufacturers to resolve issues or equipment problems. Provide support to the projects organization for new distribution equipment including power request, installation requirements, function and testing and initial energizing and startup. Required participant in the Electrical Engineering team meetings.

Align with Electrical Engineering Department's as well as the Project team's goals

Support to Turnaround Electrical planner / Specialist. This may include but not limited to, work scope development, execution, QA, final inspection and flawless start-up coverage.

Develops and maintains working relationships with other engineering disciplines, maintenance, production, support personnel, T/A, vendors, etc. Work within a team setting to support site Electrical issues. Be a contributor in technical meetings. Maintain and support department values. Leader in Safety. Lead by example and demonstrate company safety processes. Awareness and compliance of HSSE competencies.


Qualifications

Fully competent to recognize Electrical hazards and apply mitigation.

Minimum 10+ years of previous job experience as an electrical foreman, planner or inspector.

A working knowledge of electrical inspection techniques and knowledge of how a Chemical facility operates.

Ability to look beyond day-to-day matters to identify solutions to medium- and long-term electrical issues.

Experience with:

AIM knowledge.

MOC process.

NFPA 70 E.

NEC.

Electrical Safety.

Hazardous Areas and Explosion Proof Equipment.

Electrical System Design and Modification.

Electrical Standards.

Electrical Equipment Selection.

Electrical Drawings.

Electrical Construction and Commissioning.
