Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has openings for experienced and energetic Project Engineers. HRI is seeking qualified applicants for a position within our company located in the Central Pennsylvania area. We have current openings within our Highway and Utilities Regions. The successful candidate will assist Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and other personnel in managing, scheduling, and purchasing for various types of construction projects

Main Responsibilities
  • Understand, support, and adhere to all safety requirements
  • Plan work and purchase materials
  • Assist Project Manager with daily project duties including material billing preparations, expedite material procurement, approval, and delivery as necessary
  • Prepare and track all necessary submittals
  • Obtain required material certifications
  • Order necessary materials and supplies, maintain project files, current drawings, and production records
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and subcontractors while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Assist Project Manager with other duties as needed
Skills
  • General knowledge of computer software such as Auto CAD, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, JDE, etc.
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, and estimating
  • Ability to prepare subcontractor scopes of work
  • Familiarity with pricing, purchasing, and preparation of purchase orders for materials and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous PennDOT experience preferred
  • Valid driveras license with clean driving history
Education
  • Preferred degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree
  • Valid driveras license with clean driving history
Physical Requirements
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends as required
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
