With approximately 550 employees across the US, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK, we're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support our growing global team. Reporting directly to our Director of Engineering , the Senior Software Engineer will work closely with other engineers of varying disciplines (DevOps, QA, Front-End ReactJS, Full-Stack Ruby, etc), product, data science as well as other parts of the organization. They use AWS with many of our applications written in Java and open-source technologies. We are always looking to adopt modern technology to solve business challenges. As Senior Software Engineer at 1WorldSync, responsibilities include the following: Lead sprint team to deliver product enhancements, working with product managers to prioritize product backlog and ensure technical requirements are met by the team. Identify and solve important technical problems, collaborating with front-end, QA, product, devops and UX teammates in an agile development environment. Share ownership and establish expertise on large sections of our codebase while identifying, learning, and applying a variety of technologies and working in the AWS ecosystem. Promote high quality code both through leading by example and by mentoring engineers via pairing, design review, and extensive participation in code reviews. Reduce the complexity of our code base, infrastructure, and production operations in order to get more done with less work. Open to managing software engineers, including conducting weekly one-on-ones, setting objectives, and providing continual performance feedback. Required Skills and Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience 3+ years experience working with the Ruby on Rails framework and/or Elm 3+ Years Frameworks: Rails, TailwindCSS, React.js, Spring (Boot, MVC, Security, etc.) 3+ Years Databases: PostgreSQL, Neo4J Graph Database, ElasticSearch, Snowflake 2 + Years of experience with AWS: RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, S3, ElastiCache/Redis, EMR, Lambda, Cloudfront, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation, ECS/Docker, Linux 2 + Years of experience with Developer/DevOps tools: Jenkins for CI and Deployment, Sumologic, Datadog, Git Desired Skills and Experience: SQL and ActiveRecord CSS/JS Interest in Elm or Kotlin Compensation: $115,000 - $125,000 base salary. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary corporate bonus. Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the midpoint of the salary range. 1WorldSync provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential. Additional Details: This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days per week at our Chicago headquarters location.
