Title: Operations Assistant and Interviewer - PRAMS

$24.00 - $26.00 / Posted Thru: 1/26/2025

Part-Time / 29 Hours Per Week

In-office - Tuesdays / Weekday Shifts 5-6 hours Between 9:00AM and 4:00PM

Some Weekend Shifts Required

Location: Hybrid - Lansing, MI Office

Purpose: To conduct phone interviews and provide mail operations support for the Michigan Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) under the guidance of the Michigan PRAMS Coordinator and PRAMS Lead Operations Assistants. This is a part-time (29 hours per week) hybrid position that will require remote daytime weekday and some weekend work (for phone interviews) and in-office work usually on Tuesdays (for survey mailings). Typical daytime weekday phone interview shifts are 5 to 6 hours between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Weekend phone interview shifts vary.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing survey materials and mail operations
  • Assist with data entry using the PRAMS Integrated Data Collection System or Access
  • Conduct follow up telephone interviews with PRAMS sample members and record respondents' answers to scripted questions in an online survey software.
  • Schedule telephone interview appointments and keep accurate records of telephone contacts.
  • Assist the PRAMS Coordinator and PRAMS Lead Interviewer and Operations Assistant with other activities as needed
  • Participate in PRAMS human subjects training and all other trainings required by MDHHS and the PRAMS program.
  • Adhere to the PRAMS research protocol


  • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant of MPHI projects and represent the best interest of MPHI at all times.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of an associate's degree in public health, or a related health or social science field is preferred, but will consider others with survey, call center, or social science research experience and/or knowledge of maternal and child health fields.

Experience: No specific type or amount is required.

Important Skills and Characteristics: Experience with data entry is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and mail merge functions is useful. Knowledge of survey techniques would be very helpful. Good telephone and customer service skills. Ability to build rapport and gain cooperation from telephone survey respondents. Ability to stay on task while maintaining thoughtful attentiveness to detail is critical as is possessing a desire to work collaboratively and communicate openly with a small team to improve operations and complete tasks in a timely manner. The ability to type at least 40 words per minute is preferred.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality and services provided to MDHHS by MPHI.The PRAMS Operations Assistant and Interviewer has a strong impact on the efficiency and integrity of the research conducted on the projects to which he/she is assigned. This position is critical to the timely and efficient completion of the projects' operations, as well as the timely and efficient operation of the project team.
