Position Summary

Summary: Coordinates and administers a funded research study/activity or group of associated activities. Assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. Recruits and coordinates research participants, as appropriate, and serves as principal administrative liaison for the project.

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMHSC) Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) is seeking a detail-oriented, results-driven individual to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Primary Care--Building Research Integration in Diverse Geographic Environments (PC-BRIDGE) Network Research Hub.

This candidate will be able to understand and follow study protocols, to work effectively with various individuals including community members, Primary Care Provider teams, and teams from the university and Hub site. This candidate must possess excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak in English and Spanish. The Research Coordinator will serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team conducting human subjects research. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Program Manager.

The PC-BRIDGE Network Research hub is organized to be grounded in New Mexico's long-standing CTSA and partnered with primary care practices in service of rural and underrepresented populations. PC-BRIDGE's experienced team includes primary care clinical partners who are well poised to extend research participation opportunities to NM communities often underrepresented in clinical research and to integrate those opportunities into the routine primary care clinical settings where people seek care. This team will be part of the national coordinated infrastructure as a primary care research hub.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plans and coordinates the initiation of research study protocol, and the establishment of operating policies and procedures for PC-BRIDGE studies TAICHIKNEE and SUPERA, and future PC-BRIDGE studies.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data.
  • Establishes and coordinates logistical arrangements for research subjects and outreach activities, as appropriate to the study.
  • Recruits, instructs, and coordinates research subjects and/or volunteers, as appropriate to PC-BRIDGE studies' objectives and scope.
  • Ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal and external research staff and project collaborators.
  • Serves as technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.
  • Provides administrative support to PC-BRIDGE investigators, collaborators and research staff.
  • Conducts and supports study recruitment for PC-BRIDGE studies.
  • Assists in the development and writing of grant proposals and/or business plans for specific research projects.
  • Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other events associated with research activities; may perform and/or coordinate outreach activities, as appropriate to research objectives.
  • May require in-state and out-of-state travel.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

TERM APPOINTMENT; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 01/31/2026 CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING.

Conditions of Employment

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of regulatory policy and procedures related to Human Subject Research and multisite trials

* Knowledge of Huron IRB
