Day in the Life:

As a Test Engineer for Milwaukee, you will be located at our testing facility in Menomonee Falls, WI. You will work in a fast-paced environment testing new products as a member of a cross-functional team to help deliver those products to hands of professionals and build the world around us. In this role you will support the advanced test laboratory by performing sound and vibration tests for investigative analyses and follow industry standards to meet quality and regulatory requirements for a vast array of new products.

You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Utilize and maintain systems for NVH testing in a hemi-anechoic chamber to support product development.

  • UtilizeSiemens SimCenter software to record and analyze sound and vibration data

  • Microphone and accelerometer sensor/transducer selection and implementation.

  • Perform modal testing, order-analysis, and operational deflection shape analysis to diagnose operating systems.

  • Measurement and reporting of Sound Abatement properties; transmission loss and sound absorption.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects.

  • Review and thoroughly understand product function and design specifications.

  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and standards.

  • Collaborate with an international team of Engineers and Technicians

  • Perform Lab Correlation studies while working with an international cross-functional team

  • Work collaboratively with project and reliability teams to develop test plans and methods, drive implementation and execution of these methods within the lab team.

  • Support new product design teams through test development, data analysis, and competitor benchmarking. Provide feedback to engineering about testing requirements.

  • Use statistical methods to interpret test data and make formal recommendations to product design teams.

  • Create documentation of test equipment, theory of operation, and specifications.

  • Exhibit vision and foresight to test the extremes of a design.

  • Act as technical resource to other departments to address and resolve test issues.

  • Identify and recommend new and innovative techniques and equipment to drive capability and capacity of the lab.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. (Undergrad or Masters coursework emphasizing sound and vibration is ideal)

  • 4+ years of test lab experience. (preferred sound and vibration test experience)

  • Knowledge of Test and Measurement techniques, including sensor technology, signal conditioning, measuring techniques, data acquisition, and performance calculations.

  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and measurement uncertainty calculations.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to develop cross-functional relationships.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Previous work with Siemens SimCenter sound and vibration post-processing suite.

  • Experience with programming languages such as MatLab, Visual Basic, C.
