Short Description Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients' activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient's family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics. 1. Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice. Overview Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross TraumaAdmitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the TraumaStep-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, traumasurgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the traumapatient. Experience Required 0-2 years of experience preferred Education Requirements High School / GED License/Certification Requirements Qualifications/Certifications
