Job Description

General Summary:

Vertex is seeking a Graphic Designer to manage artwork development of Instructions for Use (IFUs) and required images from initial human factor study through to commercial implementation. The Graphic Designer will deliver reliably on independent activities within Packaging and Labeling. This role will serve as a key participant in internal and external cross-functional teams within combination medicines and medical devices. This position will contribute to Vertex's internal artwork change controls to meet manufacturing deadlines, interacting with internal and external stakeholders across the globe. The candidate will be a leader, with broad awareness of best global practices for graphic design within a GMP environment and in line with guidance and regulations for Instructions for Use. Strong professionalism and communication skills are critical.

As IFUs are newer to Vertex, this position will contribute to artwork development activities (brief approval, artwork preparation, and proofreading, etc.) for new products and update current product artwork and images with minimal supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and guide creation of IFU images and IFUs with external graphic agencies
  • Develop a standard for IFUs within Vertex to guide consistent creation from external graphic agencies
  • Contribute to development of IFU process and develop a road map to bring Vertex artwork management in this area to industry best practices
  • Perform graphic design creation and maintenance on IFUs and Images as required by determined process
  • Coordinate with Regulatory Labeling, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T), QA, etc. to ensure IFUs and images is created per stakeholder requirements
  • Contribute to artwork change controls from the point of stakeholder assessments to implementation at the site, as applicable
  • Ensure that change control processes are followed in order to maintain accuracy of changes during versioning of documents
  • Partner with external graphics agencies to ensure Vertex artwork is developed on time with best in class quality
  • Support the creation and review of SOPs and training materials
  • Support training global internal and external users in the IFU process and artwork management system
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects concurrently
  • Takes full responsibility within scope of the position to work with various stakeholders (such as Quality, Supply Chain, Tech Ops, Regulatory, Graphics agency, etc.) to proactively and collaboratively resolve issues that may negatively impact project timelines or deliverables

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and 4 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry in a GMP environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Graphic Design experience and proficiency in Graphic Design programs
  • Proficient knowledge of Human Factor Study process, IFU requirements and ISO guidelines
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word)
  • Ability to complete goals within allotted timeframes and deliver high quality results
  • Strong initiative and ability to identify issues and develop solutions
  • Experience with Artwork Management System is a plus
  • Product Launch experience is a plus

Pay Range:

$119,800 - $179,700

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Remote-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Remote: work remotely five days per week and come into the office on occasion - you're always welcome on-site; or select
2. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
3. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
