Engineer III, Test Equipment Engineer - Electrical/SW


About the Role

Marotta Controls is seeking an Automated Test Equipment Software/Electrical Engineer (ATE/SE) to join our growing team. In this role, you'll design, develop, and deploy complex C#/C++ test applications that support multiple Business Units, including Power & Actuation Systems and Space & Marine programs.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to create robust automated and manual test solutions, helping ensure our mission-critical systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop automated TPS software, manual tools, and utilities for new test equipment (TE).
  • Debug and enhance existing TPS software to add new tests and features.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to build communication and test tools that support early design feedback.
  • Support testing across product life cycles - from Design Verification (DVT) and Qualification (Qual) through Production.
  • Contribute to formal Test Equipment review events, including TE SRR, TE CDR, and TE Validation.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience developing Test Equipment Software.
  • Strong background in Test Executives, TPS Test Code, Equipment Drivers, and Hardware Abstraction Layers.
  • Hands-on experience with test instrumentation (signal generators, scopes, DMMs, PXI, power meters/analyzers, etc.).
  • Proficiency in C/C++/C#, SQL, and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as IEEE-488, IC, SPI, USB, CAN, RS-485/422/232, and TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution Units and Control & Actuation Systems preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to contract and export control requirements).


Preferred Skills


  • Experience with TPS project planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary program teams.
  • Skilled in preparing and presenting technical packages and reports to leadership and customers.


Work Environment

This position is based in our Montville, NJ lab and office, with occasional travel to support testing and qualification events at partner facilities.




Pay Range: $138,000 - $185,000 per year

This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.
