JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Residence Life Office at the Behrendcampus is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team. The Live-On Coordinatoris a vital part of the team in helping to continue the vision and mission of the department. They are responsible to an Assistant Director for supervising a staff of up to 16 Resident Assistants, as well as overseeing the daily activities of buildings housing up to 500 students. This position would work in various residence hall settings and/or in an apartment setting with undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds. Summer responsibilities include either New Student Orientation, Housing Operations, Conferences, Assignments, Desk Operations, or Summer School. New Student Orientation and Conferences staff also report to an Assistant Director of Housing/senior coordinator for assisting with Summer Conferences and Institutes.Summerresponsibilities could include interviewing, hiring, and training summer staff to assist conference guests or summer school; supervising student employees and making disciplinary recommendations, as needed; scheduling duty as needed to cover various campus residence halls; being present to assist with general questions and issues that might arise; respond to behavioral and maintenance issues/emergencies; resolve issues or contact appropriate staff or University offices as needed; attend meetings with conference planners, customers, and other University departments as requested.
This position will be filled as a Residential Education Specialist Professional or Intermediate Professional depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Residential Education Specialist Professional requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.
Should possess thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living as it applies to student development.
This is a live-in 91.7 FTE position with mid-June to mid-July off. Full Penn State benefits are included.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
