We are looking for a Project Engineer (with Civil or Structural Engineering background) for our Central Division, based in the Nashville, TN market.

What You'll Do:



  • Design. Develop, and stamp as required, drawings for steel structures supporting processing equipment, foundations, and site plans, including those required for NPDES permits and SPCC plans. Large projects will require providing a comprehensive general arrangement drawing to third parties who will complete design and provide detailed drawings. Smaller projects will require providing complete drawings sets internally. Assist in the development of, and adherence to, design standards.
  • Inspect. Provides field supervision/inspection services on construction and heavy maintenance projects. Conduct structural inspections and make recommendations for repairs and replacements as required.
  • Manage Projects. Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules. Follow through on project completion and ensure objectives are met. Provide updates to various project stakeholders.
  • Represent the Company. Represents the company to industry associations, government officials, and public agencies.
  • Champion Safety. Assist Safety and Health Department in developing training for structural inspections. Provide guidance on maintaining structural integrity.
  • Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel. Varies based on projects up to 20%.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:



  • Education. BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Other Engineering degrees considered with substantial civil/structural/project experience.
  • License. A PE license is required.
  • Experience. 5+ years of engineering and related experience with experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment. Strong familiarity with engineering software tools, methodologies, and best practices. Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Must have competent knowledge of concrete and steel design, building codes, and construction practices.
  • Experience with project scoping and estimating.
  • Experience in the mining industry and or other similar material handling fields is desired.
  • Experience with mine processing equipment, pumping equipment, and fundamental electrical knowledge is desired.
  • Experience with managing projects of varying scale and complexity is desired.

Deals skillfully and promptly with new situations. Ask a series of probing questions to go beyond surface issues and fully understand the components of a problem and its root causes.
  • Analytical Skills. Verifies assumptions or interpretations by checking with credible sources or through first-hand observation and data-gathering.
  • Computer Skills. Advanced skills using AutoCAD, Inventor, Advanced Steel, or similar software, for design. Structural analysis software experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Interpersonal Communication. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and must be extremely resourceful. Communicates clearly and listens carefully in an open, candid, and consistent manner.
