The Program Coordinator for Experiential Education provides support for the law school's externship and clinical programs and the Writing Resource Center. The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean for Experiential Education.

Duties & Responsibilities:


Externship programs
  • Monitor externship department communications and provide basic information to students, externship sites, and attorney supervisors.
  • Manage externship application process and advise students regarding requirements.
  • With Registrar's Office, oversee externship enrollment.
  • Maintain department records of externship students, placements, and supervisors.
  • Track time and required paperwork for externship students each semester and contact students when issues arise.
  • Send progress reports and externship reminders to students each semester. Create and update forms for externship students, sites, and supervisors.
  • Communicate with externship sites, post externship opportunities, and collect student applications.
  • Maintain website content relating to externship programs.
  • Help create and update handbooks and training materials for externship instructors, students, and attorney supervisors.
  • Prepare externship course rosters for instructors and assist in preparations for classes each semester.
  • Communicate with externship instructors regarding student progress each semester. Assist the Director with creating externship course schedules.
  • Assist with planning and hosting open house and externship informational events.
  • Create informational and promotional materials. Coordinate site visits to new and existing placements.
  • Communicate as needed with professors and site supervisors. Manage daily flow of information to other internal offices and departments.
  • Assist in the preparation of accreditation reports.
  • Maintain statistics about externships and externship placements. Report issues promptly to the Director of Externships.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed for the Associate Dean for Experiential Education, Director of Externships, and externship faculty.

Clinical programs
  • Provide overflow administrative support for the Community Legal Clinics, including screening and routing calls, assisting with software and office equipment, and drafting correspondence and other documents.
  • Provide logistical support for conferences, programs, and other events of the Community Legal Clinics, in particular, the biannual CLC Open Houses.

Writing Resource Center
  • Coordinate scheduling of accommodated student appointments with Writing Resource Center advisors.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:


1. Bachelor's degree.

2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) demonstrated administrative experience in a higher education environment. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and experience in higher education administration preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in navigating Banner, Colleague, or a comparable administrative database
  • Proficiency in using Clio or other time and billing software
  • Working knowledge of basic graphic design principles & skills
  • Prior experience in program/project coordination
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Calmly managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Flexibility and resilience
  • Superior problem solving
  • Attention to essential details while also remembering program priorities
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work
