Job Description

ADAPTIVE RECREATION LEADER

The City of Peoria is seeking a Recreation Leader I for the Adaptive Recreation Division. This position plays a vital role in meeting the needs of the adaptive population in and around Peoria.

As a Recreation Leader I, you will work in various adaptive programs, including but not limited to:



  • Special Olympics
  • Friday Night Dances
  • Social Activities
  • Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Summer Programs
  • Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Adult Day/After-School Programs


The primary responsibilities for candidates hired through this recruitment will include assisting with Friday Night Dances, Special Olympics sports, and social activities within the Adaptive Recreation Division.

Compensation:

The full hiring range for this position is $16.27 - $18.30 per hour.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Education/Age:

    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Candidates aged 16 years are allowed, but 18 years of age is preferred.


  • Experience:

    • Must have at least 6 months of volunteer or work experience with individuals with disabilities.


  • References:

    • Must provide at least 3 job references.




Licenses and Certifications:



  • CPR/First Aid Certificate:

    • Must have a current certification or be able to complete training.


  • Driver's License:

    • Must possess a valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
