Responsibilities and Expectations:

As a Senior Leader for the company, this position is responsible for forming and aligning the overall IPS strategy for Industrial Field Services, operating priorities and will serve as a steward for IPS employees, customers, and assets. Additionally, this position is responsible for communicating decisions, focus areas and communication from this team into Regions and Regional Peers. Overall responsibility for positioning the company's industrial field services and products at the forefront of our served markets. This leader will develop and implement a Nation-wide strategic plan for the electro-mechanical division while advancing the company's mission of providing an Unmatched Customer Experience and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth. The GM of Industrial Field Services is responsible for the rapid growth of new and existing IPS Field Service activity across IPS. This role demands the effective utilization of Continuous Improvement Process Solution tools, along with principles of Servant Leadership, to achieve business objectives and ensure an Unmatched Customer Experience (UCE). The GM of Industrial Field Services will lead a team of regional field service managers, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality service to clients, identify and support customer issues, identify and support the development of new service offerings, drive customer satisfaction, and deliver growth across IPS. This position plays a pivotal role in managing service delivery standards, optimizing operations, and ensuring the achievement of regional and corporate service targets.

Additional Responsibilities:

-Growth & Delivery:

  • Develop a growth-oriented business plan for the company including each region, which includes the utilization of current and new technologies, deployment strategies, and action plans for aggressive growth
  • Work with Regional General Managers and Regional Sales Managers to develop a robust go-to-market strategy for field services and products in existing and emerging markets
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial skill set with the measurable development of new field service business opportunities
  • Drive regional teaming across Electromechanical, Rotating equipment, and Renewables to affect an annual net growth in new accounts, service cross selling existing accounts and establishing and growing National Accounts
  • Work with Regional Sales Managers to grow, develop, and organize the existing sales, business development and service teams to align with the go-to-market strategy and to achieve the commercial growth strategy targets. Partner with IPS marketing on social media identity, case studies, etc.
  • Promote the company through building and maintaining customer, market, and business relationships
  • Ensure an Unmatched Customer Experience through frequent contact with regional customers- keeping them informed of new products and services and responding to inquiries
  • Work in conjunction with the engineering team to develop services demanded by the market

-P&L Accountability:

  • Develop business plans with each region and service center that outline volume, growth objectives, specific target accounts, and focus areas
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the operating budget, ensuring alignment with company financial goals and profitability targets
  • Monitor and analyze P&L performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures to achieve or exceed financial objectives
  • Drive strategic decision-making to optimize revenue generation, cost management, and overall financial health of the business unit
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and drive operational excellence
  • Ensure new business opportunities are in alignment with established financial goals

-Operations:

  • Promote a safety-first culture
  • Accountable for execution of IPS field service annual operating plan against budgets
  • Manage and direct field service deployment, utilizing regional and, when necessary, national resources
  • Review key metrics from IPS digital platform to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and drive actions in accordance with current conditions
  • Coach, train, review, and support the professional growth and development of field service engineers and technicians in the regions
  • Training - partnering with Director of Training on learning paths, plan development, technician skills progression, annual training budgets, and certification strategy. Pay for Skills - aligning to skills / training progression
  • Fleet Management - Transportation and Testing Asset management. Standardization, Calibration, 6S, etc.
  • Oversee reporting Regional Field Service Managers/Supervisors to ensure safety, production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources, while nurturing their leadership development and supporting delivery of business plan commitments
  • Own Safety, Quality, Performance, People Management and Development (talent acquisition / retention), and CIPS (IPS operating system) for each region. Drive improvement, accountability, and advance the culture of continuous improvement in each area; lead the region through the CIPS phased framework and results targets to achieve the World Class Phase
  • Conduct annual scorecard reviews by region to ensure consistency across regions and close on any potential gaps identified in the scorecard
  • Support and utilize CIPS tools and processes

-Financial:

  • Set financial strategies and priorities for the business unit, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Drive margin improvements by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and maximize profitability across services and operations.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to develop and execute pricing strategies that enhance revenue while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Monitor financial risks and opportunities, proactively adjusting plans to mitigate risks and capitalize on emerging market trends.

-Reporting:

  • Present company reports and analysis to corporate leadership including monthly status, annual people strategies, strategic plan updates and annual business plans.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial and operational reports to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain reporting structures to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure timely, data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead monthly business reviews, clearly articulating business results, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 5+ years of field service management experience, preferably in a service industry supporting industrial customers.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in operations, field service, sales/commercial, and leadership.
  • Experience utilizing strategic deployment, continuous improvement tools, and metrics to affect cultural change and drive market leading business results.
  • Knowledge of motor and generator repair, field services, and related product lines
  • Prior management experience with proven ability to manage employees either directly or indirectly, mentoring others in similar disciplines, and work scope planning.
  • Experience developing strategic and operating plans for a business unit and management of a P&L
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and apply strong analytical problem-solving dynamics in a continuous improvement environment
  • Customer-focused with professional, effective communication
  • Strong computer skills
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Education: B.S. in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or equivalent experience
