Job Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Accounting & Finance

Department Location: Littleton, MA

Reports to: Controller

Career Stream: Individual Contributor

Classification: Hybrid

Compensation: The base pay of the budgeted range is $70,000- $85,000. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.

FUNCTION:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the accounting team, including wire transfers, accounts payable, general ledger, securities accounting, regulatory reporting, and reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Technical Support and Team Management

  • Provide technical support to Staff Accountants to promote skill development, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Plan, assign, and review work within the team.

Project Assistance and Collaboration

  • Assist with projects and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project team and department leaders across the Credit Union.

Reconciliation and Account Management

  • Prepare daily and month-end reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Manage daily reconciliation for cash accounts and confirm adequate cash levels.
  • Reconcile all loan participation balances.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset accounting, ATM balancing, and Shared Branch balancing.
  • Oversee daily balancing of shares, loans, and teller totals.

Reporting and Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report, tax reporting, and other regulatory reports.

General Accounting Functions

  • Assist with various accounting functions such as accounts payable, accruals, prepaids, and variance analysis.
  • Provide backup to other tasks in accounting and treasury.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Confidentiality and Cultural Adherence

  • Maintain confidentiality of all data.
  • Regularly demonstrate behaviors as defined by the credit union's Fundamentals, a part of the Workers Way culture program.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent experience
  • Three+ years of experience at a Bank or Credit Union in an accounting or finance role
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, internal Credit Union policies and procedures, IRS tax reporting related to accounts payable, and NCUA rules and regulations pertaining to accounting functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an advanced excel skillset.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid Work Environment: This position offers a hybrid work environment, combining remote work with regular on-site days at the Littleton Headquarters. This work environment is subject to change based on business needs.

Equipment/Software Used:

  • General office equipment. Software including Microsoft Office Suite, Finastra PHX, WITS, Ascend.

Physical Activities/Requirements:

  • Operate calculator, computer keyboard, and other office machines that require finger dexterity and repetitive motion; visual acuity necessary to prepare/inspect documents; occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Sedentary work, sitting most of the time.
