About the Role:

The Operations Excellence role is intended to increase our operational capacity and capability within the Gulf Of Mexico team. The role will provide support to the Operations Manager and OIMs / Superintendents by supporting the review, update/revision, roll-out/training and verification/assurance of compliance with required operating procedures/practices. The role will support operations with the implementation of new process / procedures to promote continuous improvement of our operations.

The Principal - Operations Excellence is responsible for ensuring all Operations staff have a high level of competence and skill with all procedures / processes required for the safe and reliable production operations, maintenance and logistics activities for the asset. This role will report directly to the Operations Manager - GoM.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities



  • Accountable for working with the Operations Manager (OM) and Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs) to ensure Personal and Process Safety Management System implementation and governance across all sites.
  • Accountable for the management of competency across all Operations personnel in the asset.



Duties and Responsibilities



  • Ensures the Woodside Risk Management Framework is understood and embedded within all sites, including the Operation Risk Assessment process, Control Health Management workflows, Critical Control Health checks, Critical Control Effectiveness Tests, proper CoW and Risk Evaluations.
  • Responsible for the implementation and effectiveness of the Woodside Management System (WMS)
  • Undertakes assurance activities to validate that all operations are executed safely and in accordance with the Woodside HSE Management System.
  • Leads the utilization of the Woodside Field Leadership Program, Governance Routines and Leadership Engagements to monitor the health and effectiveness of the Woodside Management System across the asset.
  • Ensures the asset has the required individual and collective competency, including the delivery of a competency program, to safely operate the facility.
  • Fosters innovation and a continuous improvement mindset through the identification and delivery of business improvement opportunities.
  • Clearly communicates purpose, priorities, and deliverables to the team, ensuring they are consistent with the International Operations Organization.
  • Establishes interpersonal leadership relationships across teams and with business stakeholders across the asset and organization.
  • Provides coaching / mentoring and recognizes outstanding results.
  • Role models Woodside Values and leadership behaviors.

Skills & Experience:

Skills & Experience: Qualifications



  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or other Technical Degree required. Relevant experience in lieu of a technical degree may be considered.



Skills & Experience: Experience and Technical Competencies



  • Minimum of 10 years' of Operations experience at a senior level
  • Experience as OIM / Operations Team Lead / Operations Supervisor would be an asset
  • Experience with Integrated Asset Planning would be an asset
