Position Highlights

The Sarver Heart Center is seeking a Research Development Professional II to support the center's goal of obtaining grants and new research programs and agendas. This position is responsible for collaborating with 15-20 Principal Investigators (PI) and is critical in coordinating and providing grant and proposal writing services for the department. This position is also actively involved in identifying funding opportunities for the department.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and submit proposals and grant applications related to cardiovascular research to UAHS Research Administration for submission to federal and non-federal funding agencies. Responsible for scientific editing, formatting, proofreading, and finalizing documents as required and requested. Responsible for editing all extramurally funded proposals for grammar, readability, clarity, consistency, and conformance with all applicable requirements.
  • Drafts, revises, and produces high-quality scientific proposals and reports for multiple stakeholders by using templates and following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone.
  • Assembles information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
  • Presents proposals in required formats. Obtains approvals by reviewing proposals with key stakeholders, including various program faculty and staff within the organization.
  • Reviews RFPs, attends strategy meetings, participates in relevant meetings, and develops a strong understanding of the organization's work, programs, priorities, innovations, and vision.
  • Identifies research grants and funding opportunities and makes PI aware of these opportunities.
  • Completes forms, provides attestations, and develops thoughtful budget, resource requirements of and research project plans.
  • Coordinates requirements with various program faculty and staff.
  • Establishes priorities and develops timelines and target dates for information to ensure proposal deadlines are met. this includes meeting both internal deadlines as well as and sponsor submission deadlines.
  • Communicates with principal investigator and key senior leadership authors as necessary to ensure the accuracy and clarity of documents.

  • Strong attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) year of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of relevant professional level experience in writing and facilitating federal, foundation and/or industry grant funding.
