Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Percussion

Position Description:

The Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts at Florida International University invites applications for the position of full-time, nine-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Percussion.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied percussion, recruiting and maintaining a percussion studio, teaching percussion techniques courses, and overseeing the percussion inventory. Additional responsibilities may include coaching chamber music and teaching music theory or history courses. The successful candidate is expected to participate in service to the school, college, university, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters in Music is required (Doctorate preferred)
  • Evidence of high-quality performance and creative activity
  • Record of successful teaching experience at the university level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in music performance or related field
  • Nationally and/or internationally recognized performer
  • Demonstrated capacity for effective community engagement and recruitment at the collegiate level
  • Collegial attitude, strong organizational, management, and communication skills
