The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as a part-time Customer Care Assistant. The Customer Care Assistant performs a variety of customer care and payment processing transactions; reviews accounts with customers and answers questions regarding billing and usage. The Customer Care Assistant oversees the online customer portal for the Utilities Department by handling customer concerns and following up to ensure issues are addressed.
Knowledge & Education
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Knowledge of customer care practices and business communications techniques.
- Knowledge of accounting and statistical research methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of methods, practices, documents, and terminology used in accounting transactions, billing, credit, collections, and financial recordkeeping.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to exercise tact, patience, and diplomacy in handling customer conflicts which may be emotional and volatile in nature.
- Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Experience
- One (1) year of customer service experience.

The Organization
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
