JOB TITLE:

UW Foundation Marketing and Communications, Writing Internship

JOB PURPOSE: The intern will assist in creating and editing content for the UW Foundation, including stories, profiles, press releases, and marketing materials. Responsibilities include researching donor biographies and UW history, sourcing images, brainstorming ideas, collecting marketing data, and assisting editors with content organization. This role supports showcasing the university's mission and achievements through engaging and impactful storytelling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Write UW Foundation stories, marketing, profiles, press releases, and other content about UW students, faculty, staff, and donors, under the direction of an editor.
  • Assist in the research of donor biographies, UW history, and current events, under the direction of an editor.
  • Edit content written by other writers.
  • Occasionally acquire and/or produce images to accompany stories.
  • Brainstorm ideas for content or for series of articles.
  • Marketing data collection for project analysis.
  • Assist editors with organization, promotions, and other activities related to content production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current student at the University of Wyoming

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Pursuing a degree in communication, journalism, English, composition and rhetoric, creative writing, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong editing skills
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, teamwork, and self-starting
  • Clerical skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Familiar with UW branding standards
  • Research and data collection experience
  • Computer skills, including social media marketing
