We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. The Senior Engineer role is pivotal in driving forward our mission of advancing eye care through development of next generation products. This position is located in Belmont, CA.

In this role a typical day will include:

• Leading the design and development of components, fixtures, and metrology systems to advance the development of innovative intraocular lens (IOL) and technologies.
• Developing and implementing automated manufacturing processes to streamline the production of Intraocular lenses.
• Conducting experiments and root cause analysis to address emerging manufacturing or design defects.
• Collaborating closely with subject matter experts from a cross-functional team of mechanical, optics, manufacturing, and materials scientists to develop new methodologies, materials, or equipment as necessary to meet project milestones for intraocular lens development.
• Preparing and delivering test protocols, technical reports, presentations, and other relevant documentation for internal and external submissions.
• Participating in cross-functional R&D activities, serving as a functional representative in various core-team and sub-team project meetings.
• Establishing relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers, building the capability to support manufacturing scale-up.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD +0 yrs.)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 5 Years of Relevant Experience
• Work hours: Standard M-F
• Travel Requirements: Minimal

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
• Extensive experience in product development, preferably within the medical device industry
• Experience with equipment qualification (IQ/OQ) and fixtures and tooling design (SolidWorks)
