Job Highlights
  • Have primary responsibility for PSM compliance elements of Training and Competence, Contractor Safety, and Safe/Critical Work Permits andsupport responsibility for PSM compliance elements of Employee Participation, Compliance Audits, and Emergency Planning and Response.
  • Serve as Training Coordinator for the site.
  • Manage the Safe Work Permit programs, including reviewing, updating, and maintaining procedures for Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Lock-out/Tag-out, Line/Vessel Opening, etc.
  • Coordinate all Industrial Hygiene activities, such as employee monitoring, reporting, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage the Hazard Communication Plan including SDS records, labeling, and management of new chemical introduction process.
  • Develop, review, and maintain all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and forms. Communicate changes to all affected site personnel.
  • Oversee the Contractor Safety Management program.
  • Coordinate the site Respirator Safety Program, including fit testing, annual medical exams, maintaining respirator stock, and issuing respirator equipment to employees.
  • Coordinate testing, maintenance, and recordkeeping of Safety Equipment such as fall protection harnesses, safety shower/eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Facilitate Job Safety Analyses for new tasks, and regularly review, maintain, and audit existing JSA's.
  • Perform routine audits and inspections, e.g. review safe work permits, housekeeping audits, etc., and proactively supports the resolution of issues found. HSE Specialist will have daily engagements and field presence with Kalama site colleagues.
  • Participates in and supports department Safety Committee Teams.
  • Supportsrecording Occupational Health and Safety measurements, metrics, and KPI's. Performanalysis of results to trend data and identifyopportunities for improvement.
  • Supports HSE Manager as required for Compliance Audits from external agencies and internal audit teams.
  • Assists with development of messaging and updating Site Communication Monitors throughout facility.
    Requirements
    • Previous experience as Occupational Health and Safety professional required. Degree preferred, but consideration will be given to experience level and/or certifications.
    • Experience with direct supervision of contractors, consultants, design firms, etc.
    • Willingness to drive change.
    • Self-reliant with strong time management and prioritization skills
    • Experience in a chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or similar process manufacturing industry is required. OSHA PSM plant experience is preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to work effectively with multiple organizational levels from shop floor to executive level.
    • Plans own work to achieve assigned goals and is responsible for the relevance of work and the integrity of results.

    • Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program and an individual performance bonus program.In accordance with Washington state requirements, the established pay range for this position is Min: $88,400 to Max: $147,400. Actual compensation will vary based on candidate qualifications, georgraphic location, hiring budget, etc.
