About the Role:

Under direct supervision and independently, performs routine duties by following established policies and procedures to support a drug development laboratory. Performs a wide variety of laboratory tasks and may receive training to perform basic experiments.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Assembles/disassembles product development laboratory equipment - blender, mill, roller compaction machine, compression machine, coating machine, encapsulation machine for experiments and cleaning

  • Coordinates equipment service, preventive maintenance, and repair

  • Coordinates a laboratory schedule for experiments occurring in the laboratory

  • May perform R&D drug product manufacturing and experiments under scientific direction

  • Performs physical characterization of solid oral drug products and intermediates under scientific direction

  • Cleans laboratory equipment and glassware

  • Maintains laboratory inventory and supplies

  • Organizes equipment and instrument spare parts/change parts and tools/tooling

  • Moving laboratory equipment and auxiliary components as needed

  • Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of equipment and instruments

  • Collaborates with facilities/operations for waste disposal and laboratory upgrades

  • Receives training to perform essential functions

  • Stocks and works with colleagues to order laboratory supplies

  • Works with the late-stage drug product development team to understand team needs and optimization of laboratory

  • May write experimental reports, summaries, and protocols

  • May develop and maintain notebook for record keeping of experiments performed

  • Facilitates lab tours with new hires and visitors as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • It may be preferable that this person has a flexible schedule so they can either start early in the morning to set up equipment and prepare the laboratory for the scientists and the experiments ahead of time, or stay late to clean up the laboratory after completion of experiments

  • High School Diploma (Associates degree in chemistry or related degree, including lab classes, preferred)

  • No related experience required; Previous research lab experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry is preferred, but not essential

  • Good organizational and computer skills

  • Basic knowledge of Excel and creating/managing spreadsheets

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory processes, notebooking, and safety procedures

  • Basic knowledge of equipment supplies (electrical, water, air...)

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry

  • Develops skills to perform basic activities in own job

  • Learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks

  • Participate in group meetings

  • Strong attention to detail
